Is this YOUR YEAR to ski the Kortelopet?

Have you longed to challenge yourself in a brand new way? Can you imagine the exhiliaration of skiing a 23 kilometer race? Do you want to discover what Birkie Fever is all about?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Kortelopet is the race for you...and NOW is the time to take the challenge and ski the adventure!

  • Spans 23 kilometers from the Cable Airport to Telemark Resort in Cable
  • Attracts 2,800 skiers who want the challenge and excitement of a shorter-distance race or recreational ski
  • The Birkie Classic Trail will be used by Kortelopet Classic Skiers for the first 9K of their event. At 9K both Skate and Classic Kortelopet Skiers will veer onto Bayfield County and Telemark trails to finish as a race of its own at Telemark Resort. Race Cap & Registration Deadline

The American Birkebeiner has set a registration cap of 9,000 skiers for the 2012 Birkie and Kortelopet races. A cap of 400 skiers has been established for the Prince Haakon event. In addition, to the cap there is also an overall deadline of January 31, 2012 for the events. Skier registration will close upon reaching the cap or the deadline whichever comes first. The status of registration for the 2012 event will be reported in the Birkie's Carpe Skiem ezine as well as on the Birkie website home page.

Wave Update

IMPORTANT:  Qualifying Races
If you are planning on doing a qualifying race to improve your wave placement for the 2012 Birkie or Korte, please note that waves 1 through 5--skate and classic--are full, so the highest wave you can now qualify for is Wave 6.
