Race Cap & Registration Deadline

The American Birkebeiner Board of Directors set a registration cap of 8,400 skiers for the 2011 Birkie and Kortelopet races. A cap of 400 skiers has been established for the Prince Haakon event. In addition, to the cap there is also an overall deadline of January 31, 2011 for the events.

Skier registration will close upon reaching the cap or the deadline whichever comes first. The status of registration for the 2011 event will be reported in the Birkie's Carpe Skiem electronic newsletter as well on the Birkie website.

Registration

Race day is Saturday, February 26th, 2011.
Race Registration for the Birkie/Kortelopet & Prince Haakon will open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15th. 

Registration Rules

  • The race is run according to the rules and regulations of the FIS and any special requirements stated in the entry form, Birch Scroll, this web site, www.birkie.com and participant race instructions. Offenses against any of these rules may lead to disqualification for current or future events and the forfeiture of any and all awards.
  • All participants in the Birkebeiner must be 18 years of age by 2/26/2011. Kortelopet skiers must be 13 years of age by 2/26/2011.
  • There are no refunds allowed for any reason including race cancellation.
  • Entry fees are non-transferable between individuals or to future races.
  • Unsigned entries will not be accepted and will be returned.
  • Skiers who register for one race technique but ski and finish the race on the opposite course (Skate vs. Classic) will be credited for completing the race but will not be given a finish time, will not be eligible for awards and will not be included in the official results.

Bib Pick-Up for Birkie, Kortelopet & Prince Haakon

Bib Pick Up for these events is available at Telemark Resort from:

  • Thursday, February 24th - NOON - 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 25th - 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Race Day, Saturday, February 26th - 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.
  • Birkie/Korte/Prince Haakon Race bibs will NOT be available at the race start.

Be sure to bring your Photo ID
when registering or picking up Race Packet/Bib.

Read Your Confirmation Card

All registered skiers will receive a confirmation of his/her event registration.

  • Each registered skier receives a postcard (confirmation card) in the mail detailing his/her registration.
  • Online entries will receive an email registration confirmation.
  • All skiers should also look themselves up in the Skier Confirmation.


Online registrations can be viewed in the Skier Confirmation within 4 days of completing the process and mailed or faxed entries are typically available one week from receipt.

Please be sure to confirm your Wave Assignment and Ski Technique on the following materials:

  1. Your Race Confirmation Card
  2. Skier Confirmation on this site
  3. At Bib Pick-up be sure to review your check in receipt

Change Deadline

The deadline for requesting the following changes is 6 P.M. ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2011:

  • Birkie Skate to Birkie Classic - Fee $15
  • Korte Skate to Korte Classic - Fee $15
  • Prince Haakon Skate to Prince Haakon Classic - Fee $15
  • Wave Change Requests (qualifying race info must be provided) - Fee $15
  • Birkie to Korte - Fee $15 (no additional fee if technique change is made at same time)
  • Korte to Birkie - Fee $25 (no additional fee if technique change is made at same time)
  • Prince Haakon to Birkie or Korte is subject to availability* - Registration fee difference will be collected as of date of change.

*Availability - If the race has not filled based on the established cap then changes will be allowed until Monday, February 14th. Wave assignment will be based on availability at that time.

All change requests must be made by phone. Call 715-634-5025. Credit card number will be required and fees will be charged as listed above.
