Parking/Busing
Wondering about race day parking and transportation?
The last thing you want to worry about on Race Day is busing and parking. Read on, so you can eliminate that concern! Whether you're a skier or spectator, all the information you need is below. Free parking and busing is available to all skiers and spectators.
It is very important that you allow plenty of time to drive, park and then bus to Telemark where you will have a short walk to the start line. From Hayward you should allow at least two hours to get to the start line.
Race Week - Parking
- Parking is available in and around downtown Hayward throughout Race Week.
- Parking is available at Telemark Resort on Thursday and Friday of Race Week.
Race Day - Parking & Busing
- Remote parking is available at bus pick up points on Race Day as described in the Busing section below.
- Vehicles may not drive into Telemark Resort until after 9:00 a.m. on Race Day. Limited parking will be available at Telemark Resort after 9:00 a.m.
- Before 9:00 a.m. both skiers and spectators must use buses to get to Telemark Resort and then must walk to the Start Line.
- Orderly lines at the parking areas will greatly facilitate faster loading of buses.
- Skiers will receive priority when buses are loaded.
- IMPORTANT BUSING TIP! Leave early to allow drive time to the bus, bus travel and the walk to the start!
- Disabled parking spaces are available near the Start and Finish Areas. Please contact the Birkie Office at 715-634-5025 or birkie@birkie.com for more information.
Skier Drop Off Area
All skiers who will be dropped off for bus transportation must be dropped off at the Cable Business Park parking area (formerly known as Trussworks) just north of the Como Field Parking lot on the east side of US Hwy. 63. There is no parking at this lot.
Busing to Start Area
Birkie, Kortelopet and Prince Haakon Skiers
should ride buses into the Race Start.
Vehicles may NOT drive on Telemark Road until after 9:00 a.m.

Busing From Hayward
Donnellan Field
Location - 1 block east of Hwy. 63 on Railroad Street or 1 block south of State Hwy. 27 on Railroad Street
- Digital signs along with law enforcement will direct you into Donnellan Field.
- Skier Busing to Telemark Resort Starts at 6:00 a.m. and the last bus will leave at 6:30 a.m.
- No return buses. Parking area is 4 blocks from the Birkie Finish Line.
- Spectators will be allowed to load buses as space permits.
Hayward High School
New Location - South of Hayward, 1/2 mile west of Hwy. 63 on Greenwood Lane
- Signs along with law enforcement will direct you onto Greenwood Lane and then into the High School Parking Lot
- Skier Busing to Telemark Resort Starts at 5:30 a.m. and the last bus will leave at 6:00 a.m.
- Spectators will be allowed to load buses as space permits.
Hayward Hotels - US Hwy. 27, 63 & Co Rd B
Busing for Hotel Guests Only!
- No return buses.
- One time pick up at 6:00 a.m.
- Spectators will board with skiers.
Hayward Intermediate School
Busing for Dorm Guests Only!
- No return buses (within walking distance of the Birkie Finish Area)
- One time pick up at 6:00 a.m.
- Spectators will board with skiers.
Busing From Cable
Como Field
Location - 1 mile south of Cable on Short Rd. off US Hwy. 63 west side
- Digital signs along with law enforcement will direct you into Como Field.
- Skier Busing to Telemark Lodge from 6:00 - 8:30 a.m.
- Spectator Busing 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. to various points as available.
Cable Business Park-SKIER DROP OFF ONLY
Location - 1/2 mile south of Cable off Hwy. 63 east side
(Formerly known as Trussworks Lot)
- Signs along with law enforcement will direct you into the Cable Business Park Parking Lot.
- Skier Busing to Telemark Lodge from 6:00 - 8:30 a.m.
- Spectator Busing 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. to various points as available.
- NO PARKING AT THIS LOT!
Telemark Road Lot
Location - Co. Hwy M in Cable off of Telemark Road
- Used by traffic from the east on Cty. Hwy. M
- Skier & Spectator Busing - As needed, No specific times
- There is very limited parking in this lot and we anticipate that the lot may close as early as 8:00 a.m.
- Please watch for signs indicating that the Telemark Road parking area is closed. You will then proceed to the Como Lot or drop skiers at the Cable Business Lot.
Spectator Busing Following Race Start
- Spectators may board buses near Telemark Resort.
- Buses transport spectators to the Birkie Finish and parking lots starting at 10:00 a.m..
Busing From Finish Areas
Birkie Finish
Location - Bus pick up will be at the Courthouse, about one block from Birkie Tent City and Finish Line services.
- Buses will run from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for both skiers and spectators.
- Buses will return to Cable parking lots, Birkie Finish and Hayward High School. No returns to Donnellan parking lot.
Korte Busing
Location - Board buses near Telemark Resort.
- Buses will run from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for both skiers and spectators.
- Buses will return to Cable parking lots, Birkie Finish and Hayward High School. No returns to Donnellan parking lot.
