Fischer Sports is donating this year's pair of free skis to the winner of the Birkie T-Shirt Design Contest--a pair of RCS skis. The winner has the choice of skate or classic skis. New Moon Ski & Bike of Hayward, WI, is donating both the bindings for the skis and the mounting.

Please read the following rules carefully. All artists must sign and return the 2013 American Birkebeiner T-Shirt Design Contest Rules & Information Waiver with or prior to submitting their t-shirt design to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation.

1.  The top three T-shirt designs will be picked by a panel of judges assigned by the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF). The ultimate winner will be determined by online voting at www.Birkie.com.

2.  The winning T-shirt design will become the property of the ABSF, and the designer agrees to grant exclusive use to the ABSF and its clothing retailer.

3.  The designer must submit their own original artwork only. Any logos, photos, or images used in the design must be used only with the express, written permission of the source and granting the American Birkebeiner unlimited, free use of that logo, photo, or image.

4.  The designer agrees that the compensation for unlimited use of the T-shirt design by the ABSF and their clothing retailer is limited to the following prize package:

• One complimentary race registration for the 2013 or 2014 American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet or Prince Haakon events
• One VIP Parking pass to the 2013 or 2014 Race Start
• One pair of Fischer skate or classic skis
• Choice of bindings and installation provided by New Moon Ski Shop in Hayward, Wisconsin

5.  Recognition of the designer by the ABSF in the Birkie's Carpe Skiem! newsletter, on Facebook, and in the 2013 Pre-race issue of the Birch Scroll and on the American Birkebeiner’s website at www.birkie.com

6.  T-Shirt Design Guidelines:

• Those individuals interested in participating in the Birkie 2013 T-Shirt Design Contest must submit their designs in Vector format (.EPS, .AI, or .CDR file extensions). The ABSF will NOT accept Word or Publisher files.
• All designs must include the words, “2013 Birkie”
• Designs may also include "40th Anniversary"
• Designs must be limited to a maximum of six colors
• Contestents must also submit a black-and-white version of their design, to
  provide flexibility in choosing the T-Shirt background color
• Designs must be accompanied by the downloadable Release Waiver available on the Birkie's T-Shirt Design Contest Page.

7.  T-shirt designs must be submitted by Monday, June 30, by email to media@birkie.com. Artwork may also be mailed to ABSF, PO Box 911 or shipped to ABSF, 10527 Main St., Hayward WI 54843.

8.  The ABSF reserves the right to request or make minor revisions to a t-shirt design for re-submission. Revisions may also be made to adapt the t-shirt design for additional purposes including but not limited to use on other clothing or retail items, web, print or television production.

9.  The ABSF reserves the right to reject any and all submissions.

10. The ABSF may pick additional t-shirt designs for use on additional promotional materials (i.e. clothing, retail items or print pieces).

Congratulations, Charlie Rietschel!

After more than 4,000 votes, we are happy to announce that the winner of the Birkie 2012 T-Shirt Design Contest is Charlie Rietschel. (See full story).

We received some amazing entries in our third annual Birkie T-shirt design competition. From all the designs submitted, the choices were narrowed down to the top three. Then we asked our Birkie participants, friends, family, and the skiing community to vote for their favorite.

Winner's Prize Package:

Charlie received a new pair of Fischer RCS skis--his choice of skate or classic. New Moon Ski & Bike of Hayward, WI, donated both the bindings for the skis and the mounting. Charlie also received a complimentary race registration to the 2012 or 2013 American Birkebeiner and a VIP parking pass to the race start.

Gearing Up for 2013!

Last year's Official Birkie 2012 T-Shirt designed by Charlie was a huge hit and sold out at the Birkie Expo. We're looking forward to seeing the designs that come in for the Birkie 2013 contest and the celebration of our 40th Anniversary!
