Elite Skier Rules & Information

The American Birkebeiner is run according to the rules and regulations of the FIS and any special requirements stated in the entry form, Birch Scroll and participant race instructions. Offenses against any of these rules may lead to disqualification for current or future events and the forfeiture of any and all awards.

Location:  Birkie Media Cabin (corner of 63/Main St.) MAP

Race officials and the FIS Technical Delegate will conduct the meeting and provide information on:

  • course conditions
  • Start seeding for F.M.C. skiers
  • weather forecast
  • race updates
  • uniforms/ski suits and clothing checked for FIS compliance


Coaches, Team Leaders and athletes without team affiliation are encouraged to attend the meeting and will have the opportunity to ask questions. 

Race Day Schedule

Start:  8:00a.m. Women  |  8:20a.m. Men Cable Union Airport

Est. Finish:  10:15 am Hayward Main Street

Podium Presentation:  12:00p.m. Podium - People Bank Lot

Press Conference:  12:30p.m. Inside Celebration Tent

Race Secretary will be present at the on-site registration (middle school) Thursday 1pm--9pm, and Friday from 9am--9pm.

Registration/bib pick up:  HAYWARD MIDDLE SCHOOL

Thursday. Feb. 20th - 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 21st - 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

$500 Prime:  Awarded to 1st skier (male & Female) at "OO" Sprint Bonus line (skate).


Tony Wise Award: $2,500 will be awarded to the top American male and female in the skate race.


Must hold active FIS liscense to win prize money

FIS Commercial Marking Regulations - Rule #207

NOTE: Elite Wave Skiers will be monitored for Commercial Marking Regulation compliance.  To be eligible for the podium and prize money, uniforms must be in compliance with the FIS Commercial Marking Regulations Policy.  Please go to the following web site address for detailed information.  (Click for Complete info)
 

  • Your clothing will be monitored by officials at entry into elite wave start area.
  • Uniforms of the top 6 male and female finishers will also be checked for compliance at the finish line.

 

Drug Testing

 Testing for banned substances by the US Anti-Doping Agency staff is possible immediately after the finish.
