bussing postHAYWARD, Wis. (Feb.6, 2015) – The American Birkebeiner Event Guide has gone electronic.  All participants must access the electronic flip version with race-week details on the Birkie webpage.  A limited number of hard copies will be available at the Expo.    The electronic version makes immediate updates possible, if the need arises, providing the ABSF the ability to communicate any changes, even on race morning if necessary.     An interactive map from Elite Cartography is included with the Event Guide.  Built on a Google Maps platform, the map displays parking lots, road closures, bus stops and pickups and the Expo.     Among other essential info the Event Guide highlights new parking and bussing changes for the 2015 Birkie.  On race day morning, skiers traveling up from the south will be directed to park at the Birkie Ridge lot on Highway 63 2.3 miles north of Seeley from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., or they can be dropped at the skier drop-off only at the Cable Business Park    Skiers approaching Cable from the north on Highway 63 and from the east on County Highway M who are looking to park will be directed to follow a detour to Como Field lot via Cable Sunset Road.      Access to the Como Field lot from Highway 63 and Short Road will be closed so bus traffic can flow more easily to the Telemark drop-off.       Skiers approaching Cable from the north on Highway 63 who are looking to be dropped off can utilize the Cable Business Park skier drop-off also.    Skiers coming from the east on County M who are looking to be dropped off can use the drop-off lot at the Evergreen Tavern from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.      There is no longer any general race parking near the start.  Telemark Road access will be restricted to parking permit holders only.    Busses will transport skiers to Telemark from all parking lots and skier drop-off locations.    Skiers can also catch busses at the Hayward High School from 5:45 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. and from Donnellan Field, one block east and south of the intersection of highways 63 and 27 in Hayward, from 5:45 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.    See the Birkie event guide for complete details on parking and bussing as well as other Birkie info.
