One day, eight events, including NEW Ultra 100K Marathon.

Hayward, WI (July 7, 2015) — From the challenge and intensity of a 100km Ultra Marathon to the fun of a 5k run, an anticipated 1000 runners and trekkers from around the Midwest will take to the trails for the 14th annual Birkie Trail Run & Trek on September 26, 2015. Participants will traverse their way through old growth forests along portions of the iconic Birkie Trail stretching from Cable to Hayward, Wisc. With eight events on the roster – including a marathon, half marathon, relay marathon, Nordic Trek, and this year’s new 100K Ultra Marathon – there is a north woods trail experience available for every ability level.

The eight Birkie Trail Run & Trek events, sponsored by Salomon, place runners and trekkers on some of the most scenic stretches of the famous Birkie trail and single-tract sections of the CAMBA (Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association) trail system. The Birkie Trail Run & Trek event is ideal for runners looking to break free from traditional road running and provides an ideal crossover race experience and introduction to trail running.

“Trail running has seen tremendous growth in recent years,” said Ben Popp, American Birkebeiner® Ski Foundation (ABSF) Executive Director. “The Birkie Trail Run & Trek provides adventurous spirits with a healthy opportunity to get out and engage with nature and the environment.”

The Birkie Trail Run & Trek events include opportunities for veteran and recreational trail runners, as well as those seeking a road to trail crossover running experience.
