Helping to Keep New Year’s Resolutions Going Strong for 16-Years

Hayward, WI (December 20, 2016) — Losing weight, getting fit, and making healthier choices are at the top of resolution lists every year. Experts say if a person sets attainable and specific goals when making their resolutions they’ll be far more apt to keep them. If someone’s resolution is to live a healthier more active lifestyle, experts suggest that they set milestones and schedule specific events on their calendar to hold themselves accountable to their plan and overall goals. The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) has been helping folks keep their new year’s resolutions going strong for years by offering a variety of best-in-class year-round events designed to get people out and on the trail to fitness. Registration for the Birkie Trail Run Festival opens just in time for New Year’s resolution planning; slated for September 30, 2017, registration begins on January 1, 2017 at 12:00am.

From the challenge and intensity of a 100K ultra marathon, to a marathon, a marathon relay, a half-marathon, a 10-mile Nordic trek, a 5k, and a 1K for kids, there is an event for every age and skill level. Birkie Trail Run Festival runners and trekkers enjoy some of the most scenic and challenging stretches of the famous Birkie Trail and single-track sections of the CAMBA (Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association) trail system. Birkie Trail Run events are perfect for runners looking to break free from the roads and are a great crossover introduction to trail-running. The 100+ kilometer Birkie Trail has a wide, grass covered, level surface, and the single-track is smooth and fast. The famous Birkie hills make portions of the course challenging for even veteran trail runners.

In 2016, over 1000 runners took to the trails in the Birkie Trail Run & Trek. In 2017, the ABSF is ramping up the festival atmosphere on both Friday and Saturday with live entertainment, on-site camping, unique foods, cold beverages, bonfires, and more, all amongst the backdrop of autumn’s natural beauty in the spectacular forests of northwestern Wisconsin. The Birkie Trail Run Festival has a friendly, north woods vibe and festival atmosphere making it a perfect weekend destination event.

Early registration for the Birkie Trail Run Festival will help runners to keep their New Year’s resolutions on track throughout the year, and help them to save money in the long run. Interested runners and trekkers can register for individual and team events at www.birkie.com as of January 1, 2017.
