Hayward, Wis. (June 1, 2017) – Each year the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) sends out a call, far and wide, for Birkie fans to channel their inner artist in anticipation of the annual Birkie Official T-Shirt Design Contest. Aspiring artists have an opportunity to submit their original designs in hopes of securing the coveted position on the official 2018 Birkie t-shirt. An iconic component of each year’s festivities, the t-shirt is anticipated by skiers and spectators worldwide

Once submitted, the top five designs will be selected by a panel of judges as assigned by the ABSF. The top designs will be posted on www.Birkie.com for online voting by the Birkie community and the general public. The contest winner will be determined through this online voting process. The official Birkie 2018 t-shirt will be sold in the Birkie Store online at www.Birkie.com/store and also in the Birkie Store in Hayward, WI leading up to and during the 2018 Birkie week of festivities.

Sponsored by SWIX, New Moon Ski & Bike Shop, and Fischer, the winner of the 2018 Birkie Official T-Shirt Design Contest will receive one complimentary race registration for any one Birkie event hosted in 2018 or 2019; one coveted VIP parking pass to the 2018 or 2019 Slumberland American Birkebeiner race start; one pair of SWIX Triac poles; and one pair of Fischer RCS skate or classic skis. In addition, the winning artist will be recognized in the 2018 fall issue of the ABSF’s Birch Scroll magazine, in the @BirchScroll digital E-Zine, and through a variety of other communication channels.

T-shirt designs must be submitted by July 1, 2017 to the ABSF. Details and design criteria are available at www.birkie.com/t-shirt or by contacting the Birkie at birkie@birkie.com.
