One Week Only – April 1, 2019 through April 7, 2019

Hayward, WI (March 29, 2019) – For the first-time ever, as part of the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation’s (ABSF) annual membership drive, skiers who join the ABSF can register one month early for the 2020 Slumberland American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet, and Prince Haakon races, and get their name printed on their 2020 race bib.

When an individual signs-up to become a member of the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation between April 1, 2019 (12:01am) and April 7, 2019 (11:59pm) they can also register early for the 2020 cross-country ski races held each February near Hayward, WI. If members choose to register for a race, they will get their name on their 2020 Slumberland American Birkebeiner, Kortelopet, and Prince Haakon race bib. In the past, only elite skiers had opportunity to have their names on their bibs. Specific details about this unique and limited opportunity can be found at www.Birkie.com.

“ABSF members play a huge role in supporting the mission of the ABSF by championing the Birkie lifestyle and by helping us to change lives through supporting development programs for the next generation,” said Ben Popp, ABSF Executive Director. “We are grateful for their passion and belief in what we do as a Foundation. We’re also excited to see the custom bibs in next year’s races!”

Each spring the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) hosts their annual membership drive to support the 501c3 non-profit’s mission of promoting and hosting healthy, active, outdoor lifestyle events for all ages and abilities, as well as serving as good stewards of the American Birkebeiner Trail. The 2019-2020 ABSF membership year runs from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. Individuals interested in becoming an ABSF member, registering early for 2020 ski races, and securing a custom bib should visit www.Birkie.com for additional details.

The ABSF is perhaps best known for the iconic Slumberland American Birkebeiner, North America’s largest cross-country ski race held each February near Cable and Hayward, Wisconsin. To date, more than 250,000 skiers have finished Birkie ski events. An estimated 40,000 spectators and skiers gather for the Nordic sports festivities each year. The 2020 Birkie week of events is scheduled for February 20-23, 2020. In addition, the ABSF has a year-round calendar of events including the Birkie Trail Run Festival (September 27 & 28, 2019), the Fat Bike Birkie – World’s largest on-snow fat bike race (March 6 & 7, 2020), the Lumberjack Run (August 3, 2019), and a variety of other events and programs. Details for all events is available at www.Birkie.com.
