ABSF Seeks to Raise $50,000 by 12/19/19 to Secure $50,000 Match for Snowmaking
Hayward, WI (December 10, 2019) Through the generosity of an anonymous, Wave 2, Birkie skier, the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF/Birkie) has an opportunity to receive a $50,000 challenge match gift, which could become $100,000 in support of the Foundation’s snowmaking efforts. From now through December 19, 2019, donations to the 10-Days of Snow campaign will be doubled up to a $50,000 match, for a grand total of $100,000 toward ABSF snowmaking efforts. The donations will be used for snowmaking infrastructure improvements and expansion of the snow loops at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. Map of the 5K snowmaking loop expansion.
Two generous lead gifts have been graciously donated by snowmaking benefactors Mike & Jane Mandli, and Andy Schwartz & Bunkie Miller, helping the Birkie on their way to meet the challenge match and goal of $100,000. Also, in support of the campaign, one-hundred-percent of the ABSF Board of Directors committed their personal financial support to the challenge match campaign.
With the generous support of others, the ABSF will soon be on their way to a 5K snow loop at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead! This venue will allow adults, children, school groups, teams, families, community members, and visitors, to enjoy early season skiing at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead outside of Cable, WI. The snowmaking loop draws high school teams and visitors to the area, especially in the early season or during low snow years. It also provides a venue for all to ski, whether training for February races or simply experiencing a day on skis in the beautiful north woods.
