2019 – The Year of the Volunteer!
Tusen Takk Volunteers!
In Norwegian, Tusen Takk means “a thousand thanks,” and if there was ever a group for whom we should all give thanks it is our dedicated Birkie volunteers. Without their energy and commitment there simply couldn’t be the year-round slate of Birkie events for all to enjoy. Last year 3,894 Birkie volunteers worked to make our events successful. Now you can show your support of our amazing volunteers with a Tusen Takk Volunteers arm band! With your donation you’ll receive a colorful “Tusen Takk Birkie Volunteers” arm band in your race packet, to wear on race days! The colorful arm band will be a constant reminder and display of your gratitude for their dedication and volunteerism. Armbands will be waiting for you in your bib packets. We want to roll them all out at once to show the volunteers.
Wear your armband however you’d like!
All proceeds from your Tusen Takk arm bands, as part of The Year of the Volunteer, will go toward the Bidwell Engebretson Tusen Takk Volunteer Legacy Fund. Managed by the Foundation for the Endowment of the American Birkebeiner, the income from this fund will endow the future of the ABSF’s volunteer program for years to come.
For more information or, to create your own Legacy Fund, contact Audun Mikkelson at 907-433-9265 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We are grateful and indebted to all the selfless volunteers, who over the years have worked outside in some pretty awful weather, and behind the scenes to take care of all our Birkie “needs”. The volunteers are truly the lifeblood of the organization. The Birkie simply would not happen without VOLUNTEERS!”
