# Hayward Dash

Held at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead in Cable, the 2024 Hayward Dash is a Mass Start Classic Sprint Relay for MS/HS skiers.

The American Birkebeiner Trailhead has a great loop of machine-made snow! The race will go on no matter what the natural snow situation is like. Course updates will be made depending on the forecast.

**Event Details:** All teams should drive down to Birkie Start area for the event. Derksen Great Hall will be open for kids/teams to hang out and stay warm. Any questions – ben.popp@birkie.com or info@railsontrails.org

## Race Day Schedule

#### **Format**

Mass Start. Skiers race in teams of 2 (same gender – can ski mixed if need be). The course will be approx. 1.2K. Person 1 skis, then person 2 skis and they alternate back and forth. HS teams will ski 6 loops total (3 loops per skier). Middle school teams will complete 4 laps (2 loops per skier).

#### **Race Times (the next race starts immediately after the previous finishes – so pay attention and stay close!)**

- **8:00** **Bib pick up** in Derksen Great Hall
- **9:00 – HS Girls & Boys**  Classic Sprint Relay Mass Start (6K)
- **9:45 (approx.) – MS Girls & Boys** Classic Sprint Relay (4K)
- **10:45 (approx.) Awards – Derksen Great Hall**
