Proposed Disc Golf Course Preview – Oct. 4

Mt. Telemark Village has a proposal for a new Disc Golf course! The proposed course, designed by Dennis and Barb Blow, was set out this fall with small flags indicating the tee area and basket for each hole. On Saturday, October 4 at 1:30 pm there will be a walk through the proposed 18-hole course. This is your opportunity to see how the course looks prior to construction. For the most part, only small trees and brush will be removed to construct a playing area for each hole.
For those not familiar with this sport, it resembles regular golf except your arm is your club, your hand is the clubface so you release the disc (like a frisbee) toward a basket (like the small hole in golf, except the basket is two feet in diameter and is three feet above the ground sitting on a 2 inch diameter pipe). Par is usually three, but sometimes four. Playing eighteen holes takes 90 minutes up to two hours to play. The course winds through the woods of Mt. Telemark and distances are measured in feet, not yards so the total area used is much, much smaller than regular golf. No water is required to maintain a course, no greens, just the greenery of the landscape around you!
Join Scott Smith and the Birkie on Saturday, October 4 at 1:30 pm. Meet in the new Hub building, 15555 Birkie Blvd. Be aware that this hike will involve walking up some steep hills and traversing through waist-high brush. Long pants, hiking boots, and mosquito spray are recommended.
If you would like to help get this project underway please donate to the course construction! Volunteers will be needed to help with brushing once the project begins so please reach out if you are interested! Scott Smith trinord2943@gmail.com
