Birchleggers Golf Classic Returns July 23

Birchleggers Golf Tournament

Celebrating Community, Giving Back, and Supporting the Future of Outdoor Recreation

On July 23, Birchleggings Club members, supporters, and friends will gather once again for the annual Bichleggers Club Golf Classic. Set in the beautiful Northwoods surroundings that have inspired generations of Birkie skiers, this event offers an opportunity to reconnect with friends, celebrate shared accomplishments, and support the future of outdoor recreation.

Whether you’re a longtime Birchlegger or new to the Birkie community, the event promises an enjoyable evening filled with camaraderie, stories from the trail, and a chance to make a meaningful impact across the region.

Bid on Exciting Silent Auction Items

A highlight of this year’s event will be the Birchleggings Club Silent Auction, featuring a variety of unique items and experiences. Even those unable to attend in person will have the opportunity to participate through the online Givebutter bidding platform, allowing the broader Birkie community to support the club’s mission.

Featured auction items include:

  • Toro Electric Lawn Mower
  • One-Year Supply of Kemp’s Ice Cream
  • Additional outdoor recreation and lifestyle packages

Every bid helps fund grants and projects that strengthen skiing, trail development, youth participation, environmental stewardship, and outdoor recreation throughout the Midwest.

Supporting Projects That Make a Difference

One of the most rewarding aspects of the Birchleggings Club is its grant program. Over the past year, the club awarded 17 grants totaling more than $28,000 to organizations and initiatives that align with its mission of supporting outdoor recreation, youth participation, and community development.

As attendees gather on July 23, they will celebrate the impact of these recent grants and the difference they are making throughout the region.

Expanding Recreation at Mt. Telemark Village

A $2,500 grant was awarded to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation to help purchase baskets for the new disc golf course at Mt. Telemark Village. The project will create additional year-round recreation opportunities and introduce even more people to the outdoors.

Investing in Future Skiers

The Ironwood Area Schools Cross Country Ski Program received $1,500 to support transportation and participation in the 2027 Barnebirkie. Grants like this help ensure that young athletes can experience the lifelong benefits of skiing and outdoor activity.

Additional grants awarded in April 2026 included:

  • $3,000 to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation for long-range program development.
  • $3,000 to the Blackhawk Ski Club for construction of a warming and storage building.
  • $500 to the Namekagon Community Foundation for its annual run/walk event.
  • $1,000 to the Rochester Youth Ski League for warming tents.
  • $1,000 to the Seeley Hills Club for trail signage improvements.
  • $1,500 to Team Birkie for athlete support during the Central Regional Elite Training Camp.

The club’s October 2025 grant cycle also funded important projects supporting youth skiing, environmental stewardship, athlete development, trail infrastructure, and climate advocacy.

Be Part of the Tradition

The Birchleggings Club represents more than a shared love of skiing. It represents a commitment to preserving the Birkie Trail, strengthening outdoor recreation opportunities, supporting young athletes, and building community throughout the region.

We invite the entire Birkie community to join us on July 23, participate in the silent auction, and celebrate the projects and people that continue to make a difference.

Together, we are ensuring that the Birkie spirit remains strong for generations to come.
