ABSF Board Candidate: Aubrey Hoye

« Return to Candidate List

Hometown:
Suamico, WI

Years of ABSF Membership:
I’m not sure—I think maybe 4 or 5?

Occupation:
Emergency Medicine physician and one of the traveling doctors with the US Cross Country Ski Team

Why are you interested in being a member of the ABSF Board of Directors?

I’d like to be a member of the ABSF Board of Directors because I want to continue to see the Birkie and Mt. Telemark Village flourish and provide continued outdoor opportunities in the area—and I think it would be very rewarding in helping ABSF continue in that direction. Cable/Hayward area has become my home away from home. I used to spend summers during undergrad working in Cable at Lakewoods and at their golf course, and since then my father and stepmother have bought a home in Cable. My parents and my family have been spent many weekends in the Northwoods over the past several years—especially to participate in Birkie Trail Run Festivals, Chequamegon Mountain Bike Festivals and Birkie ski events. We also come up and bike on the CAMBA trails and now we watch my son participate in ski races and ski camps in Cable. My family has also bought land in the Hatchery Creek subdivision in Hayward, so that we can continue to connect to the outdoor community in Cable & Hayward. We hope to eventually retire in the area. I’d love to be a member of the Board to help with ABSF’s involvement and dedication to healthy, active lifestyles in the northwoods and beyond.

What knowledge and skills do you possess that can benefit the organization?

I’m an emergency physician and travel with the US Cross Country team as one of their physicians to World Cup events; I’m also a Birkie “Med Friend”—I’ve make a lot of connections in the outdoor community and used to work at a bike/ski/running shop in the Green Bay Area. I could help continue to develop any current or in process ideas there are regarding getting access to medical attention on the trails (not just during big events). I’m also really great at networking.

How do you see yourself helping to fulfill the ABSF vision, mission and values?

I see myself helping fulfill the ABSF vision/mission/values by continuing to promote and participate in the events and helping add others to the Birkie schedule! With the development of Mt. Telemark Village, Tony Wise’s vision is returning full circle and what an amazing destination for outdoor fun! I can also help with events from an organizing, networking or medical standpoint.
