Why are you interested in being a member of the ABSF Board of Directors?
I’m passionate about making a meaningful impact in the community, and the vision of the ABSF deeply resonates with me—promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through inspiring outdoor experiences. After attending the American Birkebeiner last year and speaking with many participants, I saw firsthand what an amazing events these are for so many people. That experience strengthened my desire to contribute in a more active role. I believe my energy and commitment to the ABSF’s mission will help to further its outreach, engagement, and long-term sustainability.
What knowledge and skills do you possess that can benefit the organization?
I have years of operational and leadership experience in both private sector and in the military. In the military I have been a graphic designer, lithographer, as well as many other jobs. On the business side I am the facility manager for the GE Vernova’s Minneapolis Global Tool Center and the Global Center of Excellence leader for OnSite Services handling forecasting and capital expenditure. I am also the attract pillar leader for GEV’s Sustainability employee resource group focusing on attracting more people to a more sustainable work and home life. I have always had a unique love for the outdoors and living an active lifestyle. I classic XC, gravel bike, and run when I can. I am a father of 2 extremely active boys and the husband of a runner.
How do you see yourself helping to fulfill the ABSF vision, mission and values?
I see myself contributing to the ABSF’s vision and mission by actively supporting initiatives and growth while still honoring the tradition that made it what it is today. I’m energetic about empowering people to challenge themselves through outdoor activity. I would like to help increase engagement, expand access for all and support year-round outreach. I think it is important to create more opportunities for all ages and abilities to experience that connnected feeling and unbridled passion that outdoor activity can bring.
ABSF’s values are its backbone. The importance of teamwork, continuous improvement, and leading by example are instrumental to the success of any organization and I will support that 100%. I can be counted on to follow through with tasks and to look for ways to solve problems and identify solutions while respecting the opinions of others. I would love to help drive forward the mission while ensuring the ABSF events remain world-class and accessible for years to come.
