Why are you interested in being a member of the ABSF Board of Directors?
I feel I would be a good addition to the Birke board as I believe in the Birke vision to have a world class Nordic event “The American Birkebeiner” be a leading Nordic destination, and would contribute to the mission to build inclusive community around Birke trails and events. I hope to contribute to bringing together organizations and people to spend time in the Northwoods and to share experiences.
What knowledge and skills do you possess that can benefit the organization?
Through my work, mentoring, and community volunteer career, I have developed valuable organizational development, financial and outdoors skills that I’d like to share as a member of the Birke board. I now serve on the Safety Committee for Voyager Outward Bound Schools (VOBS) and am helping them become a safer organization for their staff and their students. As a board member and partner in my current engineering firm, my client and business development experience translate into relationship development for donors and community partners. In addition, I understand the importance of financial management for organizational stability and growth. My passion for skiing, biking and outdoor activities has led me volunteer with, organizations focused on expanding access to outdoor experiences, such as Voyager Outward Bound School (VOBS), Wilderness Inquiry and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. I’d like to bring my passions and experiences together to serve the Birke board.
