Notes and Updates from the Birkie Trail Crew

Please note: ‘Groomed’ always means that classic tracks have been set and the skate deck has been groomed, unless specifically stated otherwise in the grooming report below.

Monday, March 23, 2020 (3:00PM)

In addition to the Samuel C. Johnson Family Outdoor Center at OO and the Derksen Warming Cabin at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead, all warming huts at every Trailhead on the Birkie Trail are closed until further notice. Thank you for understanding.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020 (1:00PM)

For a variety of reasons, we have made the decision to end all grooming activity on the Birkie Trail for the season. Mother Nature is doing a fantastic job of providing great spring skiing conditions and the Birkie Trail is still open at this time. We hope you are able to enjoy late-season skiing (while being mindful of social distancing practices) on the trail while it lasts. Thank you for a great season!

Friday, March 13, 2020 (3:00PM)

We will be focusing our grooming efforts from OO to Boedecker and the loops at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead going forward. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Derksen Warming Cabin at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead and the Samuel C. Johnson Family Outdoor Center at the OO Trailhead will be closed until further notice. Both buildings are public gathering spaces that we cannot adequately sanitize on a daily basis.
